Oh, the Places We've Been!

Full Length Play
In Development
Shortlisted for BOLD Playwright's 2021

As kids, we were promised that the world was there at our fingertips. Life could be whatever we made of it. An oyster brimming with possibilities. As we grow older, we have to consider the question, is this really what we were expecting? And how do we break out of these cages we’ve been born into?

Oh, the Places We’ve Been is an experimental, emotionally charged piece of theatre exploring what it means to be alive, what it means to live and what it means to die in this world we’ve created. Through an ensemble cast of 4, the play interrogates the ideologies we craft for ourselves through childhood, and how we lose touch with those dreams as we grow older, questioning if we ever truly know what we want from this strange little life.

Tadpoles

Full Length Play
Extract Produced for Bristol Old Vic Theatre School Showcase (Contact for Film)

Late Drafting Stages
Beware of the pond life, it’s bad yano.

Tad’s autistic older brother Kit is being targeted by the Estate Boys gang. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Tad begins a feud with the gang, leading himself into the jaws of a shady group who offer him protection in exchange for a job, whilst Kit is indoctrinated into the Toad on the Roads volunteers group. But there’s a reason you shouldn’t stay by the pond after dark, and there’s a reason you should never trust strangers…

Tadpoles explores gang mentality through the lens of young people on the cusp of adulthood. It interrogates perceptions of the working-class youth of today’s Britain, and smashes the stereotypical demonization we see of them; questioning whether anyone is truly born bad, and how far we would go to keep our loved ones safe.

Drag Me Out

Performed at Hen and Chickens Theatre 2018
UK Tour 2019
Produced by ChewBoy Productions
‘They say you lose eleven minutes of your life when you smoke a ciggie. I lost a whole lot more just trying to light the thing…’
It’s easy to hide in the dark, especially if you don’t tell anyone you’re there. Xan hasn’t left the four walls of his flat in six months. Not since the night he stepped into the neon pits of Soho, where his voice was dragged down the back alleys, never to be heard again. Not by his mates, his sister or his friends. No one. But Moe is coming. Moe will listen. Moe’s about to change a lot of things.

The Process Trilogy

Premiered at Whirled Cinema, London 2019
Produced by ChewBoy Productions
This absurdist short film trilogy follows three seemingly separate stories: a horror film fan dealing with insomnia and 'another self', an artist struggling with her masterpiece and two clowns who may never find the punchline.
The pieces centre around bittersweet comedy, bleak surrealism and experimental filmmaking and mark the third creative project from ChewBoy Productions. They deal with the facts that we may never find happiness in our lives or our work, and that ultimately, we always end up back where we started.

Before the screening, audiences were invited to answer a series of questions. We then put all the answers into our algorithm, creating a truly individual cut of the films which were representative of the room's overall worldview, perceptions, personality and feeling.
